My trip to Ecuador was fantastic. Love the hotels and lodges. Meals were excellent. This trip was beyond my expectation. Wilson, TM took good care of us. He is very knowledgeable of his country and especially the Amazon. Wilson ensured that we were well taken care of and that we were having a great time. Thank you Gate 1.

We have just returned from another amazing Gate 1 Discovery Tour, 13 Day Galapagos, Ecuador, Andes & Amazon. It was incredible. Our guide, Antonio, met and exceeded all our expectations. He was very knowledgeable and well organized. Antonio is kind, patient and has a great sense of humor. He is obviously very proud of his country and his culture. It was equally obvious that he loved his job and working for Gate 1. All our Naturalist (Pedro in the Galapagos; and Sanshu and Delgado in the Amazon Basin) were extremely knowledgeable, informative and interesting. We both loved the experience of meeting with the Kishwa people and learning more about them. Thank you for another wonderful experience. We have two more trips booked for 2027 (Australia/Tasmania and Peruvian Legends). On a side note, we had recommended Gate 1 Discovery to friends who wanted to visit France and Normandy. They are incredible experiences.

This was our 23rd Gate 1 trip and it was fantastic! Our guide and driver were amazing, knowledgeable, and fun! The tea at Lobster Cove Lighthouse was a highlight of the trip, the atmosphere, the story telling and the molasses cookies. Neddy's restaurant was also fantastic. Seeing the icebergs and learning about them was great. This was a wonderful trip and I highly recommend it.

Our Canadian Rockies adventure was outstanding; along with the amazing natural environment, our leader Greg created a magical experience that will never be forgotten. The beauty of the area, the excellence of transportation, hotels, food, and tour guides all provided an unforgettable experience under Greg's leadership. His concern for all of us created a safe, eminently enjoyable experience for each one of us. I cannot thank Greg and Gate 1 enough. Our farewell dinner exemplified our gratitude and appreciation for Greg's ability to create meaningful experiences for a quite diverse group. This trip will never be forgotten.

Elvis, our devoted and highly experienced Tour Guide made the Peruvian Legends Discovery Tour come alive for our group. From the very beginning in Lima throughout the itinerary which included Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Puno, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu were unforgettable. The in-country flights between cities were made so easy with Elvis' leadership and control of the group from check-in to our destination. The Gate-1 team included Elvis, Pepe, Dante, and Marisio worked seamlessly to make our tour the best.

I was impressed with the coordination of the Gate1 tour leader and all the local guides as well. Charley did a fantastic job informing our travel group about Mexico and information that only the locals would know. Charley is a wonderful tour guide and a great human being as well. All the local people in Mexico were very nice and inviting. Hotel staff, restaurant staff and the local people encountered on my travels as well. I had no expectations of this trip, but I was very glad that I went. Gate1 does a fantastic job

would like to share our positive experience with Gate 1 and folks who may be considering the 13 Day Ecuador Discovery Tour we just completed. From the moment we were greeted at Guayaquil airport by our tour Manager Javier there was an instant connection. Prior to this tour we had only experienced a Gate 1 European river cruise (which was excellent). I have to say Javier was spectacular, his knowledge and love for Ecuador is unparalleled. During the entire tour he was more like an old friend or "Brother/Hermano" to the wife and I. The conversations were sincere and his dedication to our small group outstanding. The wife and I would love to return to Ecuador and see some other sites such as Cuenca. We will continue to review Gate 1 tour offers and see if there is another Ecuador tour that will highlight areas of the country, we have yet to see. Muchisimas Gracias Javier, mi hermano!

I wanted to say that our tour manager Paval was the best tour manager that I have ever encountered with any company. I rated him excellent on everything, but I wanted you to know that in every category he went above and beyond. He made us all feel like we were in his family and he thought of everything from things to do in leisure to very interesting personal anecdotes about an area. He is top notch Our local guide in Cusco, Avaral was also outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, helpful and kind. He was an excellent tour manager. He took a subset of us on the Machu Pichu walk. It was amazing. He had so much knowledge and he helped us with photos at great locations. All of your local guides are very good, but Avalral was outstanding!!!

I've traveled with Gate1 before, but this was my first time with Discovery Small Group. The trip was 13 days Galapagos, Ecuador, Andes & Amazon. I had an amazing experience that truly let me enjoy the nature, the country and forget about worries. Kudos on providing this broad experience, where in two weeks we could see so many different things in one country. The tour itself was well thought out, and accommodations and service were wonderful. I want to extend special gratitude to our tour manager Daniel . His expertise, organizational skills, knowledge of his country blew me away. There was not a question he did not have an answer to. He was very engaging, supportive, funny. I felt I was treated like a family, with respect, with support, with understanding. Daniel is able to communicate with everyone, he is patient, kind, calm. I felt safe with him, secure, I knew if I needed I could ask him for help. The tour itself was great, but the tour manager can spoil a great tour or make it amazing; and because of Daniel this tour was top of the world. I've been on different tours and I can say for sure that Daniel is at the top of tour managers I've encountered in my life. We, the group, did not need to worry about anything, he worked really hard and made everything happen for us like a clock. He was personable, relatable, funny. It was hard for us to say goodbye because of how amazing Daniel was. Thank you for having this great tour manager on my trip!

Great trip can't say enough good things about our tour manager Daniel. He was super organized. I felt extremely comfortable with his management of our trip. He went above and beyond to help everyone on our trip. He was extremely knowledgeable about a wide variety of subjects, from history to biology and earth science. He would give us very interesting lectures during our downtime on the bus. He was very nice and helped us older travelers with stuff he wasn't responsible for such as technical difficulties with our phones. The places we stayed were unique and outstanding. Especially the Sacha lodge and the lodge in the Galapagos. The staff and local guides at both places were also outstanding. Best Gate 1 trip yet!!

Our tour guide, Antonio, was the best!! Knowledgeable, courteous, accommodating and also very funny! Our tour guide Miguel was beyond excellent... We have been on several Gate 1 tours and his concern and care for us was only exceeded by his incredible enthusiasm and knowledge of the places we visited, the animals and wildlife we encountered and as a zoologist his knowledge was incredible. His family embraced us when we visited them. He's the best!!!

Victor's passion for his country, his knowledge, concern for the well being of the 19 guests in our group, or "family" has he called us, and his incredible management for some VERY complicated locations like Machu Picchu. Again, hands down Victor was the best.

My trip was the most amazing adventure with Gate 1. Our tour director Elvis was a fantastic leader of our Peru family. Our group consisted of various personalities and backgrounds that came together to form a bond that created a lasting impression on me. We had the best driver Julio navigating the beautiful terrain of the various cities of Peru. Our knowledgeable tour guides Mauricio and Jason were extremely informative and helpful. It was an awesome experience.

We were on the 14 Day Peruvian Legends tour. Our tour guide, Elvis, was one of the most exceptional guide we have experienced. We had some of our follow guest have altitude sickness and other medical problems, he handled everything perfectly and with great skill. While visiting the school in Peru you could tell that the students and staff at the school were very happy and excited to see Elvis. He had a diverse group and was able to work with everyone and gain cohesion to make a fun trip. Elvis helped us understand the politics of election in Peru and how the country developed and is now functioning. Thanks for finding an excellent guide for our tour. You should be very proud to have Elvis on your team.

David, our tour manager, is amazing. His depth of knowledge and delivery made the whole trip! He's right at the top of our tour manager list, after many Gate 1 tours! Also, David was attentive, has a great sense of humor, is on time and contributed to the cohesiveness of the group. Highly recommend him and already have, since I know he has trips planned for the fall. He's a keeper!

The trip was great! We had a wonderful time. Our Tour Manager, Cocozza, was impressive. His knowledge of local areas, people, culture and history kept us engaged during the long bus rides.

Overall, Federico's passion, attentiveness, and dedication made this vacation unforgettable. We had an amazing trip in Peru with Gate 1. We hit the lottery with our tour manager, Pavel. Pavel is the best tour manager we've had so far for all the discovery trips we went on. He's so kind-hearted and dedicated to his job, to our small group of 8 people 24/7 with such personal care for each one of us. He goes way over and beyond his duties to give us as much cultural experience as possible by offering optional activities in our free time such as leisure walk around our hotel in Puno, a bon fire with roasting marshmallows and music before dinner in Colca, a folklore dancing show with dinner in Puno, tasting different kinds of breads along our drives, a market tour, etc... and much more. Our journey was extra special because of Pavel. He was so excited to show us Cuzco, his beautiful hometown, and we had a wonderful 3 nights there. Thanks to our main driver, Irving, for his incredible driving skills and navigating us through a couple of transportation strikes without a hitch. Thank you Maria, Jose, and David for your local expertise in Lima, Ariquipa, and Puno. Thank you again for a memorable journey, one that we will never forget and looking forward to our next trips with Gate1.

Our tour guide, Julia, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and willing to answer any question. Taught us how archeology is done, as well as the results. Great diction and much easier to understand each word than most tour guides. On top of everything. She took great care of everyone on the trip.

Our trip as amazing! We were so lucky to have Julia as our Tour Manager. Not only was she delightful and helpful in every way, but as an archaeologist, she provided fascinating information about what we were seeing. If I take another Gate1 tour to Mexico, I definitely want to travel with Julia again!

Our trip was incredible! We were blessed with great weather. Our tour manager, Sole, was exceptional! She kept us informed each day about our schedules and full of surprises while maintaining our safety. She was warm,calm,professional while creating harmony within our group. Virgina was our guide for the 14 day Patagonia tour. She was EXCELLENT. Virginia kept us well informed, had great humor and made our trip one to remember for all of us. A more than excellent adventure - I am still reminiscing on the joy this trip brought everyone. Marina is A MORE THAN EXCELLENT tour manager - - she did everything plus more. I recall immediately upon checking into the hotel getting a phone call asking if we were ok and ready for the orientation meeting. Marina is friendly, funny, organized and if/when I go to Antarctica I hope she is the tour manager as well. She is able to multi-task, ensure those who are not as active and those super active maximize their vacation. She helps everyone including food servers, crew on the boat, directing traffic at the airport etc etc. We could not have asked for more. THANK YOU to Marina for making this vacation the best - - it definitely ranks in the top 2. Please share this with her as well!

We have experienced some exceptional tour managers on previous Gate 1 tours. However, none can compare with the service provided by Pável on our Perú tour. His attention to detail was astounding, potential problems were anticipated and taken care of, nothing was too much trouble, everything was explained clearly, urgent situations were dealt with immediately, seamlessly, and with care and sensitivity to the individual concerned. All this was done with kindness and humor. His knowledge of Peru, its geography, history, and current affairs was exemplary, and provided vital insight into the country, its landscape, and people. Consequently, we loved all aspects of Peru, and the trip was a spectacular success.

Well, just wow! What a fantastic 2-week journey to the end of the world... The Glaciers and waterfalls, penguins, zodiac rides, mountains, hotels, all just fabulous. I was especially fond of the Hotel Las Torres. The hikes were challenging enough and scenery extraordinary. The ship and expedition crew were all professional, knowledgeable and very helpful to the guests. My room on the ship was so comfortable, clean and pristine with a wall-to-ceiling window. I was the only one from G1 to go on a particularly challenging hike and I completed it. It was truly amazing. You certainly won't go hungry on the cruise. I met lots of wonderful folks on the ship from other tour groups and travelers on their own. We also had the best tour manager, Lucas! He was warm, funny, a wealth of knowledge and very helpful. He was attentive to his group. He made sure everyone got what they needed, liked their food choices, made special accommodations for those who needed them. Treated everyone well. This trip was in the top 5 of my many, many G1 trips!!

We have been on quite a few Gate1 tours. This by far was one of our favorites. Luis is an exceptional guide. His knowledge of and passion for Costa Rica and Panama are immeasurable. After two weeks of him sharing his knowledge, I felt like I had been to school. He knew the answer to every question asked. This is the first tour I've been on where Eco tourism was the priority. Very few problems occurred but when one did, he handled it immediately and professionally. He has a great sense of humor in his presentations which helped pass the time on long bus rides. He represents all that Gate1 stands for, and you should feel pride in his representation of this company. I also want to mention the skill of our bus driver, Jose. He received our applause many times in maneuvering our large bus through tight places.

A quick note to compliment Javier, our guide in the Galapagos and Amazon. You are very lucky to have such a great guide. He made our trip fun. He was extremely well versed in all aspects of the trip. He was knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge too. He was a great ambassador for Gate 1 and Ecuador. It was a pleasure to travel with him. He handled long travel days with ease and was always present to attend to our needs. Thanks to him our Gate 1 adventure was perfect.

Nacho was an amazing tour director. He is passionate about and loves his job. He took great care of every detail of our trip to ensure our safety and that we were all happy. He promoted group harmony (familia) and cohesiveness, and it was excellent. Nacho is extremely knowledgeable about each site we visited. It's Nacho who makes me want to book another Gate1 trip. I wish he could be my tour manager on every trip. Gate 1 is very lucky to have him.

I wanted to especially commend our tour guide Giovanna. She was outstanding. She demonstrated great communication, friendliness and knowledge of Ecuador. Her enthusiasm and pride in her home country added tremendously to our enjoyment of the tour. Also, the spa tour was outstanding and represented a great "break" in the middle of the tour.

My trip to Patagonia was one of the best trips I have taken with a group and Alex was one of the best tour directors I have had. The trip was multi-layered. We saw beautiful things, learned and experienced the culture of Chile and Argentina that included food, history, information about different aspects of the countries. Regarding the Gate1 trip to Belize & Guatemala, we had a very positive experience with our tour guide, Manny. From the very beginning, he was knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about his job. The tour was well-organized but never felt rushed, and he brought each location to life with history, local insights, and a wonderful sense of humor. As with any group, there is always an individual or individual who is more needy. Manny showed amazing patience with those who needed more attention but also balanced what most of the group needed. He was happy to answer questions, adjust the pace, and make sure everyone felt included. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Manny or Gate1 to anyone looking for an informative, fun, and memorable experience.

My wife and I Just completed the 14 Day Patagonia tour, and We had Marina as our Tour-manager. Our Gate1 tour manager for this trip was an absolute gem, going above and beyond to treat our group like royalty with her impeccable organization, infectious enthusiasm, and thoughtful surprises that elevated every moment. Thanks to her, this became one of our most memorable adventures with Gate1-we savored every second and can't wait to book another!

I recently returned from a Discovery tour of Peru. I can not say enough about every Gate 1 employee I met on this trip, especially Victor. Victor went above & beyond expectations in every way every day. His special touches made this trip even more memorable, like assuring all our rooms faced Lake Titicaca so we could see the sunrise over the lake from our rooms & bringing grass so we could feed the llamas & alpacas. He scheduled rest stops at interesting places that had more than just toilets (shops or amazing views), kept us interested with history & Peruvian tales & showed us movies that pertained to what we were to see or do. All of our city guides were wonderful, Mauricio, Renzo, David & Richard, bringing their own unique perspective on where we visited. I can not say enough about Victor. We had several medical issues with a few guests which he handled professionally & safely. He treated us like family making sure everyone was included in our activities to their ability. He is truly an asset to your company. Also, Richard will make a fantastic tour manager because he has learned from the best! Also, I'd like to mention the best bus driver on the planet, Julio, who drove our big bus thru those mountain roads like he was driving a tuk tuk!

Paul was an exceptional guide, and I wanted to make sure to take the extra time to write this to you all. He went so above and beyond for every single person on the trip, including me. He always made sure I had vegetarian options, and then when my phone got fried in the Galapagos, he bent over backwards to help me get it fixed in Quito. He was funny and witty and kept all of us informed and entertained and laughing and smiling. He helped create a great group dynamic and we all had such a great time with each other and with him. Paul is the best tour guide I have ever had and if I have guides even mostly as good as him, I will be the luckiest person. Paul is amazing and made me fall in love with Ecuador. He is so proud of his country and can't wait to show us everything. He also is extremely savvy with logistics I could NOT believe how capable he was of all the flights and buses and boats and canoes, I mean literally Paul was canoeing for us on the Amazon. He is extraordinary.

This was my first experience with Gate 1, and I will be back! I would first like to bring attention to our tour guide Javiar; he was amazing! I cannot recommend him enough. He was so knowledgeable about any question that was asked, he was incredible at translating all the time and must be one of the calmest and patient people I've ever met. I will be back just because of him. Yes, the experience was incredible, but it wouldn't have been as amazing without Javiar! This was a great trip to see a lot of the highlights Ecuador has to offer. I felt like the amount of time we spent at each location was just perfect. I can't wait to go on more tours!

The Aztec/Mayan Illumination Tour is one of the best Gate 1 tours I've taken. Julie was an outstanding Tour Manager. Her tour booklet provided vital information about the tour and the daily schedule. Her archaeological background added to a higher-level perspective on what we saw and experienced. I appreciated her "culinary tour of snacks", a real treat. Julie went the "extra kilometer" consistently. Jesus was an excellent driver--skilled, safe, and helpful. The hotels were great in all respects. The local guides were superb, adding greatly to our understanding. Their knowledge and passion for their towns were obvious. Highlights were the stop at the Anthropological Museum in Xalapa and the Hacienda de Pacho coffee farm. The local musicians who performed at our semi-final dinner in Chichen-Itza added greatly to our enjoyment and set a warm tone for the evening. A great tour! I highly recommend it!

Great trip. Excellent guide. He was so knowledgeable about the plants and animals and had an amazing ability to spot them. One of the days we had lunch at his family's farm. That was a highlight. Also had a special day at the indigenous people's village in Panama.
