I wanted to give special thanks to our bus driver, Thomas, who was an excellent driver and became an integral part of our group. Because our (otherwise excellent) tour manager was not local, Thomas was able to add information about the area, life in Norway, etc. Also, the location of the Geiranger hotel and fjord view were excellent!

It was an excellent tour! Loved every minute of it. Beautiful landscape, historic sites, fjords were absolutely magnificent! The boat ride in Geirangerfjord was simply spectacular! We enjoyed all the included activities. What made the tour even better was our awesome tour manager Stephanie Johansson. She's a top-notch tour manager .... Organized, informative, enthusiastic, energetic, helpful in every way. Stephanie's personality really enhanced the tour. She took great pains in suggesting things to do in a new location and was thoughtful to drop us off at diff places on our free time at the end of the guided tour as the coach was returning to the hotel. We learned so much about Sweden and Norway from her, a value-add that's greatly appreciated! Also our driver Christian was a super duper hero driving safely thru the hairpin turns. He too was pleasant and obliging. Thank you Stephanie and Christian for a fantastic job!

Our guide Marianne was by far the best guide I've had on any trip. She is very knowledgeable, patient and thoughtful. She went out of her way to make everyone happy. If all Gate 1 guides are like her, I am very excited to do more tours with Gate 1.

Our tour manager Oskar in Iceland was fantastic. I loved hearing his stories about growing up in Iceland and his easy-going humor. He also made sure we had a safe experience and did everything possible to make it enjoyable. I would definitely recommend him.

I am writing to you to let you know about the extraordinary service provided by Luiz , Tour Manager, for the "Classic Scandinavia" trip that I participated in from 20-29, July, 2023. In addition to being highly organized and sharing a wealth of knowledge about the countries visited and additional things to do, Luiz interacted very well with all participants. On a personal note, he diligently assisted me in trying to retrieve luggage that had been lost by the airline, contacting the baggage service several times throughout the trip to update our hotel location. After I got home, he offered valuable support and assistance on how to retrieve the suitcase which was eventually found in Copenhagen. I believe this exemplifies "extraordinary" service to the client and wish to acknowledge this. Luiz is an outstanding employee!

We were very pleased with our Sweden and Norway trip! Hotels were great- central locations, quality was fantastic, breakfast buffets were outstanding. Daniel, our tour director was top notch-informative, funny and personable. Even our bus driver, Nils, helped make our trip even nicer. The pace was comfortable, sited visited interesting, and even the local tour leaders were terrific. We enjoyed the variety of things we got to do-make candy canes, see a ski jumper at Lillehammer, hear a siren sing along the Flam Railway, visit a small farm, saw Fiord horses, are heart shaped waffles, were students in an old Norwegian school with a great local tour leader, saw beautiful fiords, rode ferries, ski lifts, and drive through a 15 mile tunnel, hear a Norwegian fiddle.... I'm not sure there is anything I would change. Thank you, Gate 1!

Accolades to Gate1 for another wonderful trip! Our tour manager, "RJ", was the best - so knowledgeable about all the sites, countryside, folklore, etc. - extremely well- organized and fun! And our driver Einar was excellent as well - we felt very safe with his driving skills.

Our cabin had been renovated in January 2023 so it even smelled new. We were excited to have 2 portholes since we had booked an inside cabin. The location of the cabin was perfect since it was very quiet during the night. The ship was very clean and in great shape for a "working vessel". Mattias led us off the ship for a "walkabout" every time the ship docked for at least 30 minutes. He was constantly available. He asked for our emails at the beginning of the cruise and he emailed us a daily itinerary that coordinated with the ship's itinerary so that we didn't miss anything. He also listed specific times and locations when he would answer questions or just be around to chat. He often asked each participant to share their stories-where they were born, how many kids/grandkids they had, what they did for a living. He really listened and retained the answers and continued these conversations at the next opportunity. We enjoyed the Flam Railway ride and the visit to the stave church and Edvard Grieg's home. The farm visit was fantastic and the home cooked lunch was delicious. The scenery on the west coast of Norway is breathtaking. Our weather was good even though we did have some rain but it didn't spoil anything that we wanted to do. Anything that might have become a problem, Mattias addressed and he constantly said "No stress" and he made it stress free for us. It certainly was nice having only 13 in our group. We bonded with another couple and we spent a lot of time with them. We'll keep in touch and maybe do another Gate 1 tour with them. We appreciate all the members of the Gate 1 staff who put this tour together because it was a wonderful experience.

I would really like to stress how absolutely fabulous our tour guide, Victoria, was. Victoria ranks as the highest in quality of all of our many travel guides over the years. We will travel with Gate 1 again simply because her. The other person who was the best at what he does is Finn, our bus driver. Finn was as great at his job as Victoria was at hers. Our tour was a wonderful, educational and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We look forward to traveling with Gate 1 again.

Just to say we had a fabulous time, Iceland is incredible. The people of Iceland so kind, food so interesting and scenery is unique! Kristopher our guide was amazing, he knew his stuff and kept us on schedule, so fun, he made us all feel like family! Thanks Gate 1 for another great trip. I can't wait to book my next one!

Words cannot express how pleased I am with my recent 10-day trip to Iceland. I had taken the short Iceland trip, thru Gate 1, and was so impressed with the country that I decided to book the longer trip. No regrets. This in-depth tour of the entire island was outstanding (and breathtaking), and even when I got to the stuff I'd already seen, I was in awe all over again. Our guide, Jonas, was outstanding, attentive to every detail regarding safety, logistics and satisfaction. This was my 7th trip with Gate 1, and one of the best things about traveling with Gate 1 is the consistency of quality, whether Europe or South America; guides, accommodations, side trips and comfort are all given high priority. I've told many people about Gate 1, and, on a personal level, I have them on my speed-dial. I have never been disappointed.

We enjoyed our trip! The hotels staff were amazing especially the female dinner waitstaff at the land hotel. She ensured all the food allergies were take care of, and knew what each person needed. Also, Bea at the land hotel was amazingly patient with my elderly mother who had multiple questions about the northern lights, if they were appearing that time, if what she photographed was correct, etc. She was so kind and helpful. Rj was great and the bus driver too. They made the journey enjoyable and informative. They were very flexible with the weather and ensured we could experience the most.

We have about 20 Gate1 trips under our belt and have loved every one. This trip to Iceland was just as wonderful and we did get to see the northern lights our last night in country. How great! I wanted to give a huge shout out for Sigga our guide. She is a gem and we couldn't have been happier with her. She loves her country and is a great ambassador of Iceland and Gate1. We'll be seeing you again!!!

It was a fantastic trip and met our expectations. In particular, our tour guide Sigridour and the driver Mr. Thor provided great customer service and a fun experience to go hunting northern light on our last night Feb. 26. We saw aurora borealis with our own eyes. My wife and my son loved the experience. The Hotel Hella and Grimsborgir are excellent in term of food, customer service, and beautiful room. The trip covers all basic locations that one wants to see Iceland. In summary, you got yourself one fantastic tour guide who is fun and firm to guide us. For example, during the drive, she was talking in her mike and people talking at the time. She firmly said "you may not want to hear, but other people wants to hear". I like that. After that, people keeps quiet when she talks about Iceland. And we saw aurora borealis even though it was not guaranteed.

Our trip was great...over too quickly, but great! Our guide, Oli, never missed a beat when our hotel accommodations in Reykjavik were compromised due to local strikes. I don't think we missed anything in the original itinerary, and he even added in an impromptu stop at the harbor for a humpback whale sighting he had gotten wind of. He could have "stuck to the script" and never mentioned it, but that little extra stop was so enjoyable! You can tell he loves showing off his country, which made us enjoy our trip all the more. This was our fourth Gate 1 trip, and there will absolutely be more in our future!

I am searching for the correct words to impart our happiness and satisfaction with our tour of Iceland. Sigridur our guide and Daniel our driver were beyond compare. Our expectations were exceeded by both of them at every turn. Exceeded only by the breathtaking beauty of Iceland in the winter. The Landhotel was pure magic for the Northern Lights. The hotel and staff were excellent in every aspect. I could go on and on but...you get the idea.

We recently went on the 11 day kaleidoscope tour of Iceland. To say the trip was awesome is an understatement. Iceland has amazing vistas, mountains, waterfalls, thermal pools, glaciers, black sand beaches and lava fields as far as the eyes can see. There was lots of opportunity to hike and breathe in the clean clear air. Our guide Hannah was very knowledgeable and friendly and shared a lot of information about the culture and lives of the Icelandic people. We definitely can recommend this trip and we hope to return in the future.

May I start off by saying how wonderful my trip to Iceland was? My son, my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that we really got to see as much of Iceland as was possible in the time allotted. The south shore countryside and Reykjavik were filled with awesome welcoming people. Our tour guide Hlif and bus driver Gummi were very informative, pleasant, and helpful. That made the trip that much more enjoyable They are a definite asset to Gate 1 Travel, and deserve a raise or bonus! The hotel accommodations/selections were excellent. The food was delicious and plentiful. The sights were beyond compare. I am grateful to Gate 1 Travel for providing us with a delightful and fun-filled getaway. I am telling everyone to use your company, and also plan to book another trip for Spring 2023.

I can sum up our trip with a short- outstanding across the board!!!!! But before I go much further than that I must rave on a bit about our tour guide Ms. Sigridur . You absolutely must clone her for other trips. First and foremost she was a sheer delight to work and travel with. As a 26 year military veteran I appreciate good leadership. She was an outstanding leader! Guiding with a gentle but clearly in charge persona. I know she worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything on our excursion went flawlessly. There were weather related changes etc. but each of these were handled so professionally that they were seamless and easy for the group. Her decisions on the fly to change places, and times at places, were absolutely spot on and just made the whole experience that much better. She read the group's wants and needs perfectly. The information she provided about the places we were visiting; the cultural, historical, economic, scientific, geologic, etc. uniqueness of Iceland was not only fascinating but delivered in just the right amounts and just the right times. It's clear she really enjoys her job from the happiness, humor, and caring with which she does it. She made each of us feel special and confident we were being well cared for. If it were possible she would be our pick for all of our trips! Thor, our bus driver was also outstanding. The consummate professional in every way and equally warm, friendly, and joyful. A pleasure to travel with as well. We were very satisfied and happy with all of the accommodations and equally with all the activities and sights we visited. The included meals were great and the venues chosen for independent dining were also very good and very efficient with large groups. This trip delivered 100% of what we expected and hoped for and exceeded our expectations. Not sure I would change anything about it. Since we were beaming when we got back all of our friends have asked for details. Naturally we have been recommending Gate-1 as we regale them about our experience and share amazing pictures.

My trip was great. It exceeded my expectations. So much beautiful countryside. Norway constantly wowed me. So beautiful.

Just returned & felt compelled to write about fabulous trip to Scandinavia. Gate 1 always has wonderful guides but STEPHANIE was a cut above the rest. She acted as "mom" to us all....always being there to iron out any problems that arose, giving advice, helping to accommodate our special dietary needs, caring & comforting. Stephanie is a born "traveler". Her innate curiosity & love of her job propels her to not only absorb info but to analyze & get us all thinking & let us understand the mindset of the people in the different areas we visited. She supplied us with music, poetry & local snacks. We knew we could depend on her to act responsibly & keep us safe on our journey. Thank you Gate 1 for finding such an exceptional human being to lead us!!

It was wonderful. Einar was a wonderful, knowledgeable tour guide. Our group of 36 were friendly, always on time and fun to be with. The weather was better than expected, warm sunny days.

Amazing! Sweden and Norway were beautiful and the weather cooperated for the most part. Our first Gate 1 trip in the books! Hotels, guides, activities were great. Will definitely use Gate1 again.

Hello I would like to commend our tour guide Christian for doing a superb job managing this tour. Christian was easy to approach, easily understood and has a wealth of knowledge on different subjects, not necessarily just about travel and geography, but many other interesting subjects as well. He provided some really interesting tidbits about places we visited, he was opened to answer all questions and pleasantly shared information about his personal life, as we were all interested and fascinated by his backgrounds. I cannot say enough about Christian's guide helped to enhance the enjoyment of this tour. Thank you

I already filled out the survey that was sent to us but I wanted to further stress how great our tour guide and driver were. We were on the 11 Day Classic Scandinavia tour July 15-20. Our tour guide, Christian, was hands down the best tour guide we have ever had (both with Gate 1 and with other travel companies). I could go on and on about how knowledgeable and competent he was but I can sum it up by saying that our whole family was completely at ease the entire trip because we felt like Christian could take care of anything. A bonus was that Christian gave the best historical information about every place we visited that I have ever experienced. Our driver Sven is in the same category of competence as Christian. His driving skills were amazing and again gave my family complete peace of mind. Sven is former military and that is evidenced by the complete professionalism he projects. I do no think there is any way we could have been happier with both Christian and Sven!

Our trip was awesome; we were very well taken care of by ground staff in Iceland. The guide and driver were very helpful and professional One of the best trips for me.

My first experience with Gate 1 tour was very good. Vicky Provided excellent support in creating my reservations for my trip to Scandinavian countries and responding back to my questions very quickly. The tour Manager Stephanie was exceptional in managing the trip till the end . I was amazed by her passion , dedication for this job and knowledge about the visited countries . She also connected with every one of us individually . She really kept us very engaged with commentary on each country's Economic, Political , people , food and culture on long distance bus tours . Her time Management skills considering the tight schedule is exceptional. She managed each visit with optimum time to see places without impacting the daily schedule. She is the best tour Manager I had come across considering my multiple trips to Europe with other tour operators. All the other areas like comfortable bus service, hotel accommodations , sight seeing tour guides were also very good . I need to call out the bus driver Morton, who was very patient and made all of us comfortable in the long distance bus drives for nearly 7 days. My family enjoyed the entire trip very well . I am planning to work with Gate 1 for my future trips and highly recommend Gate 1 for anyone considering future international tours Thank you Gate 1 for providing such an exceptional team and great experience.

9 day Iceland trip was Wonderful. It helped that the weather was Great (June29-July7 '22). Harpa our guide was Great. She represented Iceland beautifullly. Her knowledge was wonderful, her personality great, her motto: 3 things: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Happy was embraced by all. We saw so much in Iceland, it is impossible to pick a favorite day. The Blue Lagoon, the city tour, the icebergs, the waterfalls, the geysers..absolutely a beautiful trip. The hotels were good. We were blown away at how wonderful the food was especially the 2 dinners at Hotel Klaustur and the one dinner at Hotel Hagar. Such creative (and fresh) food. The tomato greenhouse restaurant was another wonderful meal. Our driver, Daniel was Great also, always friendly and kept us safe! The pace was great. The only slightly down side is of course you always wish you had a little more time at some of the places to take in all the beauty. So absolutely WONDERFUL trip to Iceland with Gate1!!

Our trip was extremely well planned and we had the opportunity to see and learn about some beautiful places in Norway. The hotel accommodations were excellent and the meals were very good, particularly the breakfasts. We were particularly impressed with Nils, the bus driver. We appreciate his skilled driving. Marie, our guide was extraordinary. She anticipated needs and she was a wealth of knowledge about Norway and Scandinavia. She was patient and helpful. She coordinated multiple schedules and was always available to assist. We highly recommend Gate 1.

The trip exceeded any expectations I had. Iceland is indeed a remarkable country in many ways. The geography is spectacular and unique but moreover the stark simplicity and wholesome way of life that is palpable. This trip will stand out as one of the most memorable experiences. Our guide, Hanna was kind, knowledgeable and efficient and in my opinion was the best guide with whom I have ever traveled. Gate 1 is fortunate to have a person of her caliber as a representative of the company.

We had such a great trip to Iceland (6 days). I realize my responses on the survey were all 'Excellent', and that is because everything was Excellent! Our guide, RJ, was great and so informative. I have nothing negative to say about the trip at all!Food was incredible, locations were beautiful! We have recommended the trip and company to others. Trip was fantastic beyond my expectations! Many many thanks to our tour guide Oli, and our bus driver Gumi. Oli was so full of enthusiasm for every bit of Icelandic culture, history, geography, and geology that there was never a boring segment of his narration. He was also patient and positive in dealing with all of us very diverse travelers and went out of his way to make us all welcome and comfortable. Gumi was the most skilled driver I have ever encountered! He maneuvered us around impossibly tight turns and narrow roads with never a worry. He and Oli had such a good relationship they were able to take us easily to the most interesting places, even though they were not easy to get to. And he had connections that allowed my husband to get back his forgotten insulin from the previous hotel the very next day. We are so grateful to him and to Oli for making this a truly unforgettable trip!!!

Just wanted to leave additional feedback on the exceptional quality of this Iceland adventure. The hotel qualities were very good in both locations and the Fosshotel is amazing. We were beyond lucky to have the superlative Sigridur - she made the whole trip a fantastic experience. All the hotel staff in both locations were also noteworthy. Fabulous trip!

Can't say enough good things about our tour guide, Ingibjorg on our recent trip to Iceland - March 28-April 2. She went above and beyond to make our trip a wonderful experience. This was our 9th Gate 1 trip and we are always so happy with our guides. Also, kudos to our bus driver, Gummi. He did a great job. We loved this trip.

I wanted to reach out and say how happy and impressed I was with my trip. This was my first Gate 1 trip and won't be my last. I had a bad experience with another operator on a large group tour and was hesitant to do another but Gate 1 showed me when done right, it is quite enjoyable. The guides, drivers, bus were all great (I knew the sites would be but worried about the specifics). Besides being so knowledgeable and helpful Hlif and Harpa were great with information. We always knew how long the next bus trip would be and when the next bathroom/food break was. These little things make a big difference! And the "surprise" extras - like the ice cream break at the creamery and water bottle every day. Thank you for an excellent experience!

Iceland was our 1st ever group tour and EVERYTHING about it was just fantastic! We cannot stop talking about it. Looking forward to Germany in the fall and we thank you for making the trip an amazing vacation and lifetime memory.

Hoskuldur or Hersey as we fondly call him is quite professional. He is very knowledgeable. He even explained some history of Iceland which is quite informative. He is warm and compassionate. His performance is IMPECCABLE. Gate 1 needs more Tour Manager like Hersey. PROFESSIONAL, COMPASSIONATE, PERSONABLE. EXCELLENT communication skills. He performed beyond his responsibilities, he ensured we did not encounter any problem with COVID testing and obtaining results promptly. Daniel our driver is quite professional. He navigates our tours smoothly. He exhibits IMPECCABLE skills as a driver. He is very good in maintaining cleanliness of our tour bus constantly sanitizing the bannister, handrails and seats.

AWESOME! Norway on winter is the most beautiful place I have been. Spectacular views/landscapes of the Fjords and quaint villages are breathtaking. I wanna go back for the midnight sun. So very nice/pleasant tour manager, Micke. Thank you Gate 1.

I took my 80 year old mother to Norway which was a once in a lifetime trip for her and she was in awe of the sites as well as how well Gate 1 organizes and helps with every detail. Once again Gate 1 and your guides did an outstanding job. Stephanie was our travel guide and she was so knowledgeable and entertaining. The hotels and food were wonderful.
