About Airport Transfers in London

There are several options to transfer between London's two major airports and the city center.

Important: Before booking transfers, check your flights carefully to determine if you will arrive or depart from London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW). Some itineraries may involve flights which arrive into one London airport and depart from another.

London Heathrow (LHR)

We offer the following options which may be booked in advance:

1. Shared Transfer - Provided by motor coach, minivan or car. You will share the transfer with other customers arriving at different terminals, and transferring to other hotels. The sequence of pick and drop off is determined solely by the shuttle service and therefore you may experience some delay in reaching your destination. For departure transfers, you will be collected at your hotel at a confirmed pick up time. Approx. $28 per person each way.

2. Private Car - Private transfers are typically operated by independent taxi services and are normally more expensive than hiring a taxi locally. These services require drivers to travel round trip, pay entrance and parking fees, and to wait up to one hour. Approx. $112 per vehicle each way (1-2 passengers).

The most popular alternative transfer options are as follows:

3. Heathrow Express - Train runs every 15 minutes between London Heathrow (all terminals) and London Paddington station and is the fastest link between Heathrow and central London with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes. Tickets can be booked in advance online at www.heathrowexpress.com or purchased locally. Fares start at £22 ($27) one-way and £36 ($47) return when booked online. Fares may be lower with earlier online purchase. Fares are £5 ($7) higher when purchased locally.

4. Taxi - Taxi prices will vary based on the hotel location and the time of day. Taxis are generally available at the airport but may be more difficult to secure for your return journey and are best booked via the hotel concierge. The cost to central London is £45-£70 ($60-$90) and the journey time is approximately one hour.

5. London Underground - The most cost-effective rail route to London is the Piccadilly Line train which runs from all terminals with a journey time of 50-60 minutes. However, while inexpensive, be aware that trains can become extremely crowded, especially during morning and evening commuter hours, and handling luggage can be very difficult. One way fare is £6 ($8) which may be less when using an Oyster Card available locally at any Underground Station.
