The trip was outstanding. My wife and I loved every minute of the trip. Our guide, Mr. Herunga was one of the best guides we ever had with Gate1 and other tours, and the driver, Nathan, was not only an excellent driver, but also having been a tour guide, he could also answer many questions. Both of them sat with our group and meals and we so enjoyed that. Herunga was extremely attentive to all the needs of our 17 fellow travelers, several of whom had requirements that required a lot of his attention, dietary restrictions or other needs. He consistently demonstrated grace, patience, empathy and a can do attitude which all of us appreciated, but especially for my wife and me, we observed his care for their needs. Some matters that came up were simply beyond his control, but he took all matters in stride and did all he could to help. His attitude was always for the best interest of the group and that was everyone in the group and above all, he did all this with a great sense of humor. He also evinced great knowledge about his country, Namibia, whether about language, topography, geology, plant and wildlife, culture, foods, climate and so many other things. He also had familiarized himself with the US beforehand so he could draw comparisons on landscapes. As he escorted us to the gates at the airport, many of our group exchanged hugs with Nathan and him. Though there had been some grumbling about some of the matters noted above, including the cold weather, over which Herunga had no control, without exception, we found him to be an outstanding tour guide. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, I would give him a 10+.

We just completed a trip to Kenya Africa March 24-April 3. This trip was incredible. We knew this trip would be special but never expected it to be so amazing. We had one of the best guides Christopher. We had a small group 4 travelers. I always hope to have a guide that goes the extra mile. Christopher did not go the extra mile, he did a 10K . Extremely thoughtful, provided massive information about animals, parks, people of Kenya and culture. Because of our small group we did not have any other guides. No matter what park we were in he was able to provide information. He was excited to show us the animals. He gave me the opportunity to get safely close to the animals so I have amazing photos.

I know you're swamped with travel challenges, but I just want to share my excellent experience in Kenya and Tanzania and thank you for another great Gate 1 trip! We've had many incredible tour managers with Gate 1 and Wolfugan in Tanzania has now taken top spot. He was attentive to our every need, but so much more. He was a wealth of information which he shared in such interesting ways, providing us with great insight into the country, the culture, and the amazing wildlife. He didn't always just answer a question, he sometimes encouraged us to think by asking a question back and truly engaging us in learning. We are avid birders, so we asked him to point out birds along the way that he might not otherwise. His knowledge of all the local birds was beyond my imagination and his ability to spot an interesting bird while driving a game vehicle blew us away. The other two people in our game drive vehicle soon became birders too! His knowledge of the wildlife was superb as expected and his ability to maneuver the vehicle into just the right spot for viewing and even considered the lighting for great photographs allowed me to get the most amazing photographs and memories for a life time. Wolfugan truly went the extra mile to ensure we were having the best experience on drives, in our lodging, and at our meals. He made us comfortable with all of the Covid requirements being managed. He was friendly, personable, obviously very intelligent, and a delight to be around. I've been back home for a week, but my heart is still in Africa. Thank you Gate 1 for another amazing adventure!

My first Safari, but won't be my last. Our Tour Guide, Christopher was fantastic. While filling out my post trip survey, I obviously gave him all "Excellent", but I wanted to write to truly tell you how Christopher made my trip complete. He handled every detail from the moment I landed in Nairobi, to the moment I left. Throughout my stay Christopher was extremely attentive to all of my needs. His knowledge of animals and birds was unbelievable. His insight into the Kenyan people, customs, food and all things Kenyan made the trip complete. His dialogue throughout the trip was educational, inspirational, humorous and enlightening. If I could give Christopher 5 out of 5 stars or 10 out of 10, I would do it without hesitation. Thank you Gate 1 and Christopher. Also, a shout out to Timothy who assisted in our Safari. He was excellent as well.

My husband and I recently completed the 10 Day Kenya safari exploration (discovery tour) and Chris and Tony were great guides for our entire trip. They were knowledgeable, great at their jobs and concerned about keeping us all safe, healthy, and happy. It was amazing! It exceeded all of our expectations! 27 minutes into our 1st safari in the Masai, we witnessed our 1st kill! we were looking at a beautiful cheetah and she just stood up, crouched and took off! It was thrilling & exciting to be witnessing the circle of life! Then in the same safari we saw a jaguar, multiple male & female lions with babies, elephants, giraffes, a hyena and multiple other amazing animals. Our Guide was floored that we saw so much in 3 hours, he actually stopped the truck, turned around & asked us who the magic one was! We told him that we now had high expectations for the next day! We ended up seeing all of the big 5 throughout the entire trip! Just blessed, very lucky and thankful! We look forward to booking our next vacation with Gate 1!

We had a great time, everything went very well. We were especially impressed by the excellent tour leader Charl who was most knowledgable, efficient, courteous and did everything possible and more to ensure that all went smoothly. The trip to Kenya was absolutely fabulous. It was a dream come true and I owe it all to Gate 1. Never having stepped out of my country before I was scared how things would pan out but you guys made it effortless and I felt so taken care of. Expectations exceeded! The Gate 1 experience, our first organized tour, was amazing. Communication was great, no surprises and flexibility to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town and surrounding peninsula in a way that made up feel safe and experience the things we wanted to experience. Cape Town and the surrounding area was beautiful. Our Tour coordinator Dexter made it all the better by sharing historic insights and local perspective of the culture. He never left us wondering what we were doing or where we needed to be. A class act all around. At the Mabula Game, not only did we get up close and personal with the "Big Five" and the "Ugly Five", Our Safari Guide Tristin gave us a deeper appreciation for what is being done to protect and preserve these beautiful animals. Tristin shared his knowledge and experience and showed tremendous respect for the animals while positioning us for the best possible pictures. With his help we experienced the sounds, sights and smells of the African bush. All with the best of humor and often capped off with a Sunset over the mountains and a glass of wine. I would recommend this trip to anyone with the slightest interest in visiting Africa.

The trip was awesome! Hotel accommodations were top notch, the itinerary covered every aspect of South Africa's history, flora, fauna, topography, attractions and so much more. Our tour guide, Colleen, was organized, knowledgeable on so many subjects, congenial and passionate about her country. Bus transportation was excellent. Food was good and plentiful. Safaris (3) were superb, except the 3rd day when it rained! All flights were fine! We would definitely consider Gate 1 Travel for another vacation!

Amazing, as usual! Christopher, Raphael, and Joel were great tour guides, giving us clear communication on our itinerary each day and all three are excellent safari guides who went out of their way to ensure we saw as many animals from safe, but spectacular vantage points as possible in 3 days. The two safari lodges were beyond our expectations in regards to location and amenities, and the hotel in Nairobi had great superior rooms (the hotel upgraded us for our last night). We just love that when we take a Gate 1 trip we don't have to do a thing except learn and enjoy (and get our luggage out on time!). We did think we were crazy for traveling so far for only 4 days, but so much was packed into that trip that we didn't feel like we missed out on anything! Looking forward to our Discovery trip to Morocco in February 2018!

The Kenya trip was wonderful. Tons of great animals and birds close up on all the game drives amid the beautiful savanna plains. Bucket-list worthy hot air balloon ride and informative Maasai village, giraffe conservatory and Karen Blixen home visits. Great lodges to stay in and hospitable, friendly staff everywhere. Very knowledgeable,competent and organized tour manager, Chris. No major snafus or problems. A great time in East Africa. Thanks again for a super trip, Gate 1...already looking forward to my next booked one in Sept. 2018 to the Baltics....

What a wonderful trip! It all started in Cape Town a world class city. We were treated to a penguin habitat that amused and amazed.The Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain,the Waterfront were unforgettable, Our tour manager Jason was EXCELLENT. He regaled us with the history of South Africa, offered us treats and drinks that represented his country. He made sure we were comfortable and was pleasant, personal and professional. The safaris in spite of the cold weather did not dissapoint. The lunch stop in Swaziland with an interesting commentary and cultural performance was memorable. All accomodations and food were above reproach. The fellow travelers got along well which made the journey more special. Johannesburg was interesting and we even took Uber during our free time which gave us the opportunity to connect with the locals. In spite of the long hours of travel getting to know South Africa was very worth it!

Just letting you know we had a great trip to South Africa and the extension to Victoria Falls. So a big thank you, to you Maria for getting us on our requested tour date. Your Tour Guides are also worth a special mention. A huge thank you to the Gate 1 tour manager on our trip, Colleen. She looked after our large group very efficiently and was very knowledgeable on a huge range of topics. Colleen was so good about repeating departure times and procedures, and nothing was too much trouble for her. Our tour went like clockwork and there were no nasty surprises. accommodation and the food were of a good standard. The local guides and coach drives were polite and helpful and well trained. Even though we were the only Australians amongst our fellow USA tour group we had a super bunch of fellow travellers and a good mix of ages as well. So we learnt about " the states" as well. Also interesting was that a large percentage of the people had been on tours with Gate 1 before, and one couple it was their 7th tour with Gate 1. That is pretty impressive. We would gladly go on another Gate 1 tour.

It was exceptional. We enjoyed all of the beautiful and exciting sites throughout the trip. Our tour guide Reneir was great and all of the people who were part of the trip were exceptional. Gate 1 is truly a great company. Thank you for your assistance and support along the way.

This was our first Gate 1 trip and it was memorable and very enjoyable. This lovely experience was in large part due to our superb tour manager Johnathan. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and was extremely knowledgeable with a good sense of humor. The trip allowed us exposure not only to the amazing beauty and wildlife of the countries we visited but also the culture of the people. We look forward to our next Gate 1 experience.

My trip to South Africa was fabulous. Beautiful country, good food, good wine, great accommodation and a really good bunch of fellow travellers. The trip was extremely well organised. As a single woman travelling alone, this trip, and Peters' tour leading, enabled me to feel safe and secure and has resulted in a new friendship group.

We had a FABULOUS trip!. This was my first tour with a group and I truly enjoyed it. The group was good, so we were lucky. But the hotels we stayed at were all excellent and so was the food we enjoyed as part of the tour. Our tour guide, Belinda, was phenomenal. She had a wonderful personality, and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We could tell she was very experienced. A huge plus! My daughter and I were extremely pleased with the experience. We're already talking about were we should travel next. Thank you to Gate 1 and to our tour guide, Belinda, for an amazing vacation!

It was everything we could have imagined and more. That was my 57, 58, 59 and 60 countries I have been to, and I tell everyone that it was in the top 3 sites I have ever visited (Israel, Egypt and this one). Our guide was great, helpful and patient, and everything was so well planned and organized. Of course, diving with the sharks was just AMAZING and we saw so many!!! I went in twice. Also, the majestic animals in their natural habitats was so thrilling. I was surprised at how beautiful the countries were (especially South Africa and Swaziland). It is a trip that my grandson and I will never forget. Look forward to traveling with you in the future (Ireland, Machu Picchu, Australia and New Zealand, Cambodia, Thailand and Viet Nam, Taj Mahal and Nepal and from Budapest to Bucharest). I am especially interested in trips that may have free single supplements. It was fantastic - Gate 1 did a great job and I will recommend to anyone who asks.

My trip to South Africa was amazing. Jason, the guide, was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. His knowledge of the area was impressive and he was very attentive to all participant needs. I will certainly do another Gate 1 trip!

We had a great time. Gate 1 treated us like royalty (as usual). Cape Town is a beautiful city, especially when viewed from the top of Table Mountain. The Mabula Game Lodge was so exciting. We got up close and personal with the "Big Five" as well as dozens of other types of wild game. Our tracker, Isaiah, shared his knowledge and experience with us and positioned our Land Rover for the best possible pictures. Sunset over the mountains, in the African bush, with a glass of wine was a great end to each game drive. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

We had a fabulous vacation! The itinerary was terrific and included many excellent stops on the way. Stewart the guide, was knowledgeable, helpful and kept us entertained! Everyone on the tour were like minded fun people and got on famously with each other. We made many new friends and now look forward to planning another trip with Gate 1!

The trip was extraordinary!!!! So hard to describe the vast number of experiences packed into 10 days! Our guide was delightful, knowledgable and his love for his country was evident. Each day was filled with something even more awesome than the day before. We would have loved to do Victoria Falls but it was out of our price range but it is on our bucket list.

The trip was absolutely sensational. Well organised, we got to see all the sites and managed to fit all of the itinerary in despite the weather playing havoc with the trip up Table Mountain. The township tour in Cape town should be an essential part of the trip. One of the highlights for me was our Tour Leader, Charl. His telling of life in South Africa during apartheid told me more about the country than any history book could and he held nothing back. He made sure we all had a good time and could do any of the extra activities we wanted to. Would recommend him highly as one of the best tour leaders we've ever had. We have now booked our next Gate 1 trip for March next year.

GREAT trip!! Our tour manager was super, the hotels were very nice, the food was very good, the group was very friendly and all seemed sad to leave the trip, and of course, the animal viewing was outstanding.

Our guide Don was superb- had amazing command of history of his beloved country. His love and passion for his work came through loud and clear. Truly a great tour guide and a great asset to Gate 1!

It was an outstanding escorted coach trip. Charl was an informative, entertaining and caring Trip Director. We had interactions with all South African groups and learned the history of this emerging, mineral-rich nation. We had 3 days of game drives and saw the Big-5 and many more animals. Cape Town was an enjoyable and scenic city to end the tour. This trip is a good value for the money.

The S. African trip was super. The tour guide was humorous and knowledgeable. The people on the coach friendly and warm, and the drivers of the coach, very good.

The trip was fantastic! Everything was great. Our tour guide, Jean, was excellent. She really exceeded every expectation. I don't think I would have enjoyed the trip as much, or learned as much, if it wasn't for her. As far as tour guides go, Jean should be the standard! I am already looking forward to finding another adventure through Gate 1 :)

Our trip with Gate 1 was amazing! We can't say enough about how well organized it was, the accommodations were great, food was good and our tour guide, Peter, was absolutely the best. He was always up beat, very knowledgeable about his country, liked to share and no question was too trivial for him to answer. The safaris were the high light and the animals we saw were amazing. It was beyond expectations, a wonderful experience. This was our second Gate 1 trip and both were exceptional. We highly recommend your tour company.
